Winter Whippets

We all know that Whippets are fair-weather dogs. They love basking in sunbeams, laying in front of the fireplace until you are certain they are toasted, and snuggling in bed or a big pile of blankets, or even the laundry basket filled with warm laundry just out of the dryer!
But I will share a secret with you: Young Whippets don’t have a thermostat! It seems only the older, wiser Whippets have the sense to stay indoors on a cold, snowy day. The youngsters are like kids on a snow day home from school!
Below is a video of Bernard at about 7 months old discovering what snow is all about. Pictured above is 10-month old Abracadabra, ears flying in joy as she bounds back into the house after having carved a path through the fresh snow around the whole backyard!
Rest assured, neither Whippet was out for more than a few minutes, as they can catch frostbite, so they are always closely supervised in extreme weather conditions and do wear winter apparel when out for longer periods of time.
